DO NOT LOOK INTO HIS EYES
DO NOT LOOK INTO HIS EYES
The great beast 666, he sits astride a mighty steed;
With foaming mouth and blazing eyes and tossing head and mane;
The fallen angel of the Lord, he leads men into war, cruelty and self-destruction.
Where he rides four other horsemen also follow, they know that he is there,
He cannot yet be seen, but when he shows himself do not look into his eyes. Do not look into his eyes! Beware!
He is there in strict disguise when crowds line the streets and cry for war.
He is there when the bullet strikes and shrapnel tears their guts apart.
Swollen with ego, he was there when the trenches ran with water and with mingled blood and saw the rats nibble at the dead and dying as they lay on fields of battle one hundred years ago.
One million dead within one month, and by the end another four.
He was also there much longer back when the torturers pulled men apart upon the racks in the name of Christ.
How he laughed back then, for he is such a clever fellow;
To think, that all this evil was being done back then in the name of love.
Sometimes he shows himself, but do not look into his eyes. Do not look into his eyes!
The great beast was there again when the second Great War began;
There egging others on when mad Hitler killed five million Jews and Gypsies too and others with a different kind of loving.
He watched as ovens burned and gas taps fed the chambers of the dammed.
He encouraged Stalin and Mao and those other mad beasts to kill so many countless millions more.
Sometimes he shows himself astride his steed, but do not look into his eyes. Do not look into his eyes!
The Horseman and his other four are busy every single day with war and bigotry and cruelty. Sometimes a child is beaten half to death, sometimes a dog or other creature screams in pain.
Always the Beast is watching and his name is Six, Six, Six.
Now he leads before the army of the new Great War.
Invisible he leads them on, the new Mahdi and his twisted band.
The evil Caliph of Bagdad and the soulless and the lost;
Long ago it was the head of Gordon on a lance;
Now it is the heads of thousands, not just of Christians, but of Muslims too that roll away into the sand.
Just because they do not share the same twisted path and vision.
Once they came by horseback or by camel.
Now in tanks they blaze a trail of dust across the dry and arid lands.
In the name of God they rape and slaughter to build a vast new Caliphate that will last a thousand years, or perhaps forever.
But the guilt will not be theirs alone, for the Beast and Blair and Bush also played their hand.
They sowed the seeds of hatred and discord and the four horsemen and their chief rode across the skies and laughed with glee as Iraq was blown to bits;
How many hundred thousand dead?
Sometimes he shows himself, this fallen angel, but do not look into his eyes. Do not look into his eyes!
The new Mahdi won’t succeed.
Condemned by his own brothers of the same great faith;
Who preach of sanity in almost every mosque.
He will soon stumble with his hate and lack of wisdom, and his way be lost;
As the headless slaughter that he leaves behind turns men’s sickened hearts from fear to a new quiet wave of reasoned rage, and also love.
This Mahdi will soon vanish and be forgotten and his bones be careless dust, blown across the plains.
Good men of all three great faiths, Muslim, Jew and Christian;
Will prove that goodness triumphs in the end.
Will prove that though guilty of their own great sins;
They cleansed the earth of even greater ones.
Although the Horseman will ride on;
His victories will one day bring about his own defeat;
The other four dark riders will also stumble with him.
For in the end there is only one true God of all and he will pluck away his fallen angel.
But until that day comes, beware, and if the Beast he shows himself to you, do not look into his eyes. Do not look into his eyes!
