DOES COCONUT OIL SAVE YOUR MEMORY FROM ALZHEIMER'S?
It's now just three weeks since I started taking coconut oil and thus too soon to measure any improvement in memory or cognitive abilities. However, I cannot measure any further deterioration, although I did have a strange memory blank, but that is almost certainly from damage already done. I was watching the classic music channel on TV when The Three Tenors appeared. I have heard them many times and always sort of felt that Pavarotti was the 'big one', not just in girth, but also in power of voice and yet I couldn't remember his name. It was an unpleasant moment, as I really felt that I was 'losing it'. Half an hour later, his name just popped into my head. This memory delay, seems to be a common feature of my dementia. If I struggle for a word, it usually pops into my head later.
To return to the coconut oil. Although it is not yet proven to me, there are a lot of people who claim big improvements in memory of themselves or their patients, even those already in the second stage of Alzheimer's. Even if coconut oil only delays deterioration of the brain it will be worthwhile.
Yet another scientist has claimed to have found a 'cure' for Alzheimer's. This follows tests on mice where it was found that by increasing a certain protein ageing was delayed. It does sound interesting, but as usual it will be several years before it is proven conclusively and one wonders what has happened to all the other cures that have been claimed. It really would be kinder to those of us fighting demntia and 'living by the clock', if these claims of cures could be made when the product is actually available. For the moment I'll stick with my good lifestyle plan and keep testing the coconut oil!
Autumn has really come now in the Western Cape, with colder weather and a lot of rain. No lunch in the garden today.
Bobby the parrot seems to have got over the loss of his friend Sandy who flew away into the blue, blue sky almost three weeks ago. He's chirping away as usual again and saying a few more words. The dogs are fine and we are all well.Keep taking the tablets.
