IS IT OLD AGE OR DEMENTIA

It is perfectly normal for there to be a slight deterioration in memory as onr grows older. Depending on lifestyle and heredity there is roughly a 50% chance that by age 65you will have dementia and a high probabilitythat this will be the symptom of Alzheimer's.
However, there are a few clues as to the pesence of dementia as opposed to the normal aging process. Slight forgetfulness is not necesssarily a sign of dementia, it is one's cognitive abilities that are a better measure of the presence of dementia. With normal aging there should be no deterioration in mental capacity and daily tasks such as shopping, calculating bank balances, dressing, following directions, preparing meals etc., can be carried out as they always have been. If this applies to yourself then you probably don't have dementia, even though you may have some memory dificulties. However, if in doubt consult your doctor immediately and he will quickly be able to give you the answer.
Even if dementia is diagnosed, there are many steps that one can take to almost halt the disease. These range from exercise of body and mind and a healthy diet to eating specific foods such as coconut oil. In addition, the progress of dementia and even Alzheimer's can be very slow and a good qualityof life can be maintained for a considerable time. In my own case for example I have had dementia for over ten years and yet I am only in stage two and still able to comfortably write and read and live a very full life, full of joy and gratitude.
