ALZHEIMERS AND DEMENTIA --- LOVE REALLY WORKS

Love does make a difference to patients suffering from dementia and alzheimers. In the early stages of dementia it is easy to continue to love the victim, but much more difficult in the middle and latter stages of alzheimers when the patient will sometimes not remember the caregiver and the memory of other things will be damaged. However, as explained in previous blogs inside the body the patient is only sleeping and can be woken with music, affection and love.
It's difficult, but caregivers must try and remember that the real person is still there and deserves the love that they felt when they were younger.
Love is the key and with love both dementia and love can be delayed.. With enough love and positive thinking the progression of dementia and alzheimers can be slowed dramatically.
It is sadly recorded that in experiments on babies the Nazis fed the children involved and cared for them in every physical and medical way but totally denied them any love or even affection. They were completely ignored in a loving way and they all died.
Love given really works and love denied can break the spirit.

My own dementia remains the same, but no further deterioration. My system of physical exercise, mental exercise and care for the spirit through meditation and prayer continues to work. Sadly, one cannot turn the clock back on damage done previously, so I struggle to remember the odd word, and some names and faces, but I am still writing my book and reading extensively. My life is very blessed.
The weather here in Paarl in the Western Cape continues to be glorious. Other parts of South Africa are suffering from terrible flooding, as are other parts of the world. We have had little rain for five months, but as we move from Autumn into winter in a couple of months our turn for rain may come!
The water in the pool is too cold to swim now though because it does get cold at night. Boysie the Jack Russel still takes the odd dip when he throws his ball into the pool. The parrot and his chum are getting very chatty. They whistle and chortle a great deal, but not much in the way of new words.
Still plenty of spiders around and the odd rat and in fact I am still concerned that they may still be in the roof of the shed that is my office. Hope not!
Keep taking the tablets.
